What do you know about Vietnamese coffee?
(yes I used gemini to make the images so sue me)
If you don't live in Vietnam, and someone's trying to sell you "Vietnamese coffee" - don't believe them. Because you can't make it without Vietnamese ingredients? No. It's just because they don't make it right (even some of the Vietnamese restaurants I've been to don't).
And it's very easy to make! I don't understand why it's so hard to find.
All you need is:
- Sweetened condensed milk
(Optional = regular old milk in addition to the sweetened condensed milk - fits American tastes better)
- Dark roast arabica or regular-old robusta (yes - robusta tastes the best when you make it right)
- Water
- Glass/cup (a clear glass cup is best)
- The filter (A true "phin" coffee filter should have 4 parts whose names I don't know in English or in Vietnamese ~ sorrryyyyy ~ I'll add a picture in the next post whenever I get to it + actual instructions
(You'll notice that this is *very* cheap to make - your main cost is the coffee + condensed milk - and people are out here charging 7-8 bucks a cup! It costs probably under 2 dollars to make. Sell it for $3 for Pete's sake.)
